It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our President
10th November 1951 – 16th September 2021
Henk Bakker was elected to the Managing Committee in 2013 and as EHLTF President at the General Assembly in June 2019 in Vitoria, Spain succeeding Brendan Gilligan.
Henk’s passing leaves us with so many happy memories, his last project was the publication of the 25th anniversary booklet of the European Heart and Lung Federation as the driving force behind.
He had planned to chair the recent MC meeting in Ostend / Belgium to review arrangements for the 2022 European Heart and Lung Transplant Championships.
We will honour Henk’s legacy by continuing our bi-annual games, remembering our donors, promoting organ donation and celebrating the gift of life.
We will all miss Henk as a dear friend and colleague.
Our deepest condolences to his wife Francis, his children, grandchildren and extended family.
