Nordic Meeting 2010

The Nordic Heart and Lung Transplant Associations held their annual meeting in Copenhagen last August. This event, perfectly organized by the board of the Danish Heart and Lung Transplant Association, offered a good opportunity to get a useful overview of the present stage of Transplantation and Transplantation results in the Scandinavian countries. Moreover, the Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish participants and the chairman of the EHLTF, Arnulf Pohl, who also attended the meeting, had the chance to exchange experiences and to discuss matters around Organ Donation, Transplantation and Transplantation activities. It is particularly noteworthy that Finland has now introduced the “presumed consent” in Organ Donation by law. At the center of the programme were two highly interesting presentations: on the “Danish Center for Organ Donation”, its tasks, activities and achievements and on the research work of the Rigshospital/Bispebjerg Hospital regarding “The physical training of Heart transplanted people”. We hope to receive results of these analyses at a later stage for publication on the EHLTF website. The programme was rounded off by city walks in Copenhagen in beautiful summer weather. Finally we would like to thank the Danish Heart and Lung Transplant Association for the friendly reception and great hospitality. It was agreed to hold the next Nordic Meeting in Sweden 2011, after that at an interval of 2 years.
